Spare Me This

Psalm
78:7 “That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God,
but keep His commandments.”
Should
my flesh see many winters
That dim
my eyes and ears
Should
illness strike its blow
So common
with many years
Should
my legs refuse to carry me
And my
arms I cannot lift
I ask
but one thing, Father
A small,
yet priceless gift
That my
voice will never falter
When
singing out Your praise
And my
heart will never fail
To Love
You all my days
Though
my mind forget my loved ones
And
strange become their kiss
To
forget You, O Dear Father
I plead
You spare me this
Let my
spirit soar with You, Lord
Where
this body cannot go
My life
a witness for You
That all
who see will know
Your
Sovereignty and power
Your
Love that sees us through
Let me
always have this vision
This
sweet, eternal view
